Our Story
We are a family owned business which combines modern technology with old–world craftsmanship. Our staff blends the best methods of stripping, repair, and refinishing of wood to provide unique and affordable restoration services.
Quality Refinishing started as Pumpkin Center Antiques and Clock Repair in Pumpkin Center in February 1981. We were at that location for over nine years. As our customers ask about repairs on their furniture and having the knowledge to repair antiques we found a greater need for repairing and refinishing antiques rather than selling them. We quickly grew and needed a larger location and moved the business to Daniels Lane. After two years, we outgrew that location and moved the business to our current location at 331 Sumner Street. Having a 10,000 square-foot building allowed us to expand the business to include fire and water damage restoration, along with moving damage claims.
After the passing of his dad, Bill Barlow, Jim has taken over the ownership of the business. Jim has been there from the beginning. He is gifted with the ability to restore and repair wood furniture just like his dad and grandfather. We are thankful for our customers and the confidence they have placed in us. We are proud to be part of the Bakersfield community and to serve the Kern County area for over 38 years.
